Accepting, and Embracing Social Support
Hello, my friends in Oneness,
I'm going on the record here to say that, without question, this topic represents the most difficult blog I've ever written.
If you've ever been the recipient of a fundraiser like I now am, you can relate. Accepting social support of this nature does not come easy. Gestures like, 'well wishes' and prayers are much easier to accept, but something changes when there's money involved. There's a level of 'embarrassment' that is very tough to get beyond. The acknowledgment of being assisted financially is a crushing blow to the ego.
And this is where Oneness can help.
First, and most definitely foremost, Oneness teaches us that WE ARE NOT OUR EGO! That the ego represents our 'false-self'. So, the reason why there's the aforementioned level of embarrassment is because the ego is trying to get us to believe that we don't need such support, and this typically initiates an inner struggle, as it did with me. No one wants to believe that they need the help of this nature, but many people do, and I can attest on behalf of cancer patients throughout the world. Our daily life in itself is an emotional, and physical struggle. Receiving assistance in any fashion is a blessing.
Love is energy, and social support is LOVE!
While we all can relate to 'the power of love', it's important to recognize love as the energy that it truly is. Love lifts us all. Emotionally as well as physically. And for someone dealing with a life-threatening illness, there is an immediate need to embrace any and all positive energies. We must avoid negativity however it may look to enter our lives. And that is because 'Where the mind goes, the body follows'. If we allow ourselves to entertain negative thoughts to any degree, that weakens us both spiritually and physically. And when you're in the fight of your life, you can't have that.
So, what I've been learning throughout my ordeal, and with help from The Radical Remission Project, is that we should look to accept, and EMBRACE the social support that shows up in our lives. The spiritual benefits are endless, and there are immediate biological occurrences within our bodies that take place which is also beneficial to our healing process. These individuals (family, friends, strangers) are sharing their love with us because, plain and simple, they want to help. I've done it, and I'm sure you have too.
